The Town of Hlučín, the beginning of which dates back to the second half of 13th century, is the easternmost town of the Opava District; it is about 22 kms distant from the City of Opava. At the same time, it leans towards Ostrava; the distance between the two is merely 12 kms. The rectangular square, dominated by the Town Hall, forms a substantial part of Hlučín.
